Mutual Development Company, LLC was formed in January 1989 by Joseph R. Walters for the development and management of commercial real estate properties.

Mutual Development’s projects include Pace Warehouse, Walgreens, Burger King, Phillips 66, & Aldi’s in Roeland Park, Kansas, as well as Kragen Automotive in Madera California. In 1998 Mutual Development acquired Monterey Shore Plaza in Palm Desert, California where Mutual Development Company repositioned a 260,000 square foot development into a newly renovated center with an additional 82,000 square feet of retail space. This property was owned and managed until January of 2006 when it was sold.

Mutual Development started developing properties in Arizona in 2004 when it acquired two retail shopping centers in Scottsdale, Arizona. The two retail centers were 9,800 square feet and 22,500 square feet and located at Raintree and Interstate 101. After the properties were fully leased, they were sold in July 2007.

Mutual Development developed Gateway Crossing, a 250,000 square foot shopping center in Avondale, Arizona in 2006. Gateway Crossing includes tenants such as Best Buy, Old Navy, Comerica, Hobby Lobby, Island’s, Paradise Bakery, Claim Jumper, FedEx, Chipotle and other tenants. Mutual Development currently manages Gateway Crossing.

Mutual Development acquired a 2.18 acre retail and medical office site in July, 2007 in Avondale, Arizona and completed the development in October, 2008. It will sell the properties in December of 2008 to the users.

Mutual Development is developing two properties in Goodyear Arizona. These projects include Sarival Crossing and Goodyear Palms Plaza. Sarival Crossing is a 70 acre industrial site next to the Amazon fulfillment center and Federated logistic and fulfillment center. Goodyear Palms Plaza is a 40 acre mixed use project with 180,000 square feet of office buildings, 86,400 square feet of office condominiums, 113,000 square feet of retail and 88,000 square feet of hotels. Goodyear Palms Plaza is located immediately adjacent to the Cancer Treatment Center of America. Mutual Development is schedule to break ground in December 2008.

J. Walters Construction Co., Inc. is an affiliate of Mutual Development and is a commercial general contracting company that was founded by Joseph R. Walters in 1987. J. Walters has done various commercial projects such as shopping centers, office buildings, warehouses, restaurants, gas stations, car washes, banks, auto parts stores, and a wide variety of tenant finishes and store fixture installation projects.

We have focused on building relationships and maintaining a solid repeat customer base over the last 21 years. We are committed to excellence in all we do and believe that on-time delivery of the highest quality of projects for the best value is only part of the equation. Our experience in the construction process is incorporated throughout the entire development of a project. J.
